Cigarette Consumption

In 2013, average cigarette consumption among daily smokers was 13.9 cigarettes per day (CPD), a significant drop from the 2012 rate of 15.0 CPD(12). From 1999 to 2013, cigarette consumption declined significantly,(13) by more than 3 cigarettes per day (Figure 1.8). The average rate of decline in cigarette consumption during this time period was 1.3% per year. There is evidence that the difference between successive years is getting smaller with time (14).
